Privacy policy
Effective July 9, 2026
This policy explains how Crusoe Says LLC ("we," "us") handles information in HomeThoughts, an iPhone app that helps people capture notes, photos, and voice memos while touring homes and turn them into organized reports. We built HomeThoughts to be private by default: we do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. By using the app you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. Questions? Email homethoughtsapp@gmail.com.
The short version
| Selling your data | Never. Your data is not for sale, full stop. |
|---|---|
| Ads and tracking | None. No analytics, advertising, or tracking software, and nothing Apple labels "Data Used to Track You." |
| Who sees your captures | You, and a partner you link with if you choose. No one else, unless you share a link yourself. |
| Voice memos | Transcribed on your iPhone using Apple's on-device speech recognition. The audio is never sent to us or to Apple to be transcribed. |
| AI report writing | Off until you turn it on. When it is on, the text of your notes and home details is sent to a third-party AI service to write the report. Your name and email are not, and the text is not used to train AI. See "AI report writing" below. |
| Deleting everything | All your data, or your whole account, from inside the app, anytime. |
| Where your data is stored | On your iPhone, and on our backend hosted in the United States. |
Who we are
HomeThoughts is operated by Crusoe Says LLC, a North Carolina company. For any privacy question, contact us at homethoughtsapp@gmail.com.
What we collect
We only collect what the app needs to work. We do not ask for information we do not use.
Account information. When you sign in with Sign in with Apple, we receive an Apple user identifier and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address. If you use Apple's Hide My Email, we only ever see Apple's private relay address, not your real one. There is no password-based login in this version, and we never see your Apple ID credentials.
The things you capture. The notes, photos, and voice memos you record, your first-impression ratings, and any text you type. Voice memos are turned into text transcripts on your iPhone using Apple's on-device speech recognition. The audio is not transmitted anywhere to be transcribed.
Home and neighborhood details. Addresses, nicknames, prices, beds, baths, square footage, taxes, HOA fees, and the precise location (latitude and longitude) of the places you save, which the app uses to fill in addresses and organize your tours.
Your buyer profile. The names you enter, the priorities you pick (including any you write yourself), your budget, and how you rank the homes you have seen.
Commute places. The labels, addresses, and locations for the places you commute to.
Purchase records. When you unlock Full Access, we store a record of the App Store transaction so we can confirm your access, and your linked partner's. The payment itself is handled by Apple. We do not receive or store your card or payment details.
Partner linking. If you link with a partner, the two of you share one workspace, and the information above is visible to both of you.
We do not collect analytics, device advertising identifiers, third-party crash telemetry, or any information used to track you.
How we use what we collect
- To store and sync your captures across your devices, and with a partner you link.
- To generate your Neighborhood Notes, Home Summary, and comparison reports.
- To fill in addresses and organize your tours by location.
- To confirm your Full Access, including for your linked partner.
- To create and render the share links you choose to make.
- To respond to your support requests.
We do not use your captures to train AI models, and we do not use your content for advertising. We have no advertising.
When information leaves your device
Our backend. Your captures and account data are stored in our hosted database and file storage, provided by Supabase in the United States, so they sync across your devices and with a linked partner. Access is protected by row-level security, so only you (and a linked partner) can reach your data.
AI report writing, which is opt-in. AI report writing is off until you turn it on. When you turn it on, the app sends the text of your notes and transcripts, plus home details such as the address, price, and your saved priorities and budget, to our AI provider, OpenRouter, which routes the request to a large language model operated by Anthropic (or Google as a fallback) to write the report. We do not send your name or email address in these requests. We have turned off model training and prompt logging for these requests, so the providers use the text only to generate your report. They do not log it, keep it, or use it to train their models. If you leave AI report writing off, your reports are generated on your device and with rule-based methods, and nothing is sent to the AI provider. You can turn AI report writing off at any time in Settings, under Privacy.
Market trends. When market-trend information is shown, the app sends only a state code to look up public housing-price-index data. The full street address is not shared with any outside data provider for this feature.
Share links. If you create a share link for a report, we publish a snapshot of that report, which can include the home's address or nickname, prices, your verbatim quotes, and photos, to a web page that anyone with the link can reach, until you turn the link off. Nothing is shared automatically. Share links exist only when you create them, and you can revoke them at any time from the report's Share screen.
Sign in with Apple is provided by Apple under Apple's own privacy terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising or marketing.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your information for as long as your account exists. You are in control:
- Delete all data. In Settings, under Privacy, this permanently removes your homes, neighborhoods, captures, photos, voice memos, and reports, while keeping your account so you can start fresh.
- Delete account. In Settings, under Account, this permanently removes all of the above and your account itself, including your stored files.
These actions are immediate and cannot be undone. If you have shared a report by link, revoke the link to stop it being viewable. Text sent to the AI provider to write a past report is processed only to generate that report. Because we turn off model training and prompt logging for these requests, the provider does not keep it or use it to train models.
How we protect your information
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. On your iPhone, photos, voice memos, and exported files are stored with file-level encryption, and your login session is held in the device Keychain. Access to your stored data is enforced by row-level security, so no other user can read it. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard measures.
Children
HomeThoughts is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to certain processing. The in-app "Delete all data" and "Delete account" controls cover access and deletion directly. For any other request, email homethoughtsapp@gmail.com and we will respond as required by applicable law. We do not sell personal information and do not process it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
International users
We operate the app from the United States, and your information is processed there. By using the app you understand that your information may be processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. Continuing to use HomeThoughts after an update means you accept the revised policy.
